Hi There,
Due to such a fantastic response I have decided to ramp up the frequency of these newsletters. Special thanks to my fan club for the great feedback about previous newsletters ;-).
Now there will be two types of newsletters you will receive. One will have a featured article and updates to educate and motivate you to maintain your healthy lifestyle. The other will be called ‘Quick Fix’ and will have tips and information to keep you on track.
So please have a read of this new format ‘Quick Fix’ newsletter and let me know what you think. Do you like the idea of receiving newsletters more frequently to keep you on track? Is there something particular you would like me to include or questions I can answer?
Keep me in the loop - I love to get feedback!
Wishing you great Health & Fitness
Lots of Luv

Quick Tip
Increase your water intake!
Increase your water!
(I know that some of you are shuddering after reading that!) We are made up of approximately 70% water so it's crucial for us to be maintaining those levels by regularly drinking water. Studies have linked everyday health issues such as headaches, fatigue, illnesses and injuries to people being dehydrated. Make sure you keep those fluids up (particularly when exercising!)
It's recommended that you drink 8 glasses (2 litres) of water per day. If you really struggle to drink water, try adding some cordial or fresh fruit (slice of lemon, strawberries etc) to your water to make it a little tastier. You can even increase your water intake by making a pot of herbal tea. A peppermint tea in the afternoon will hydrate you a lot better than a cup of coffee!
So 'kampai’ (cheers in Japanese!) to you increasing your water intake.
Nutrition Corner
Food is one the biggest topics that I receive questions about. Should I be eating this? What’s better for me? I’ve heard that....? This section will be a great forum to share some of those questions and answers with you. If you've got any questions you want answered, please drop me an email. I can guarantee if you’re thinking it – someone else is too!
Fresh or Frozen Vegies.... Which is better for me?
In short, any type of vegetable is great for you. However let’s break it down and look at the benefits for both. When eating fresh vegetables you get more variety, which means you get lots of different vitamins and minerals in your diet. Each different colour vegetable has a 'healthy effect' on your diet. You have red, green, yellow, orange and white vegetables (and more!) All are essential to have in a healthy and balanced diet. However one thing to keep in mind is how long they’ve been sitting on the shelves for. The longer the vegetables are out of the ground and exposed to light and air, the more nutritional value they lose.
With frozen vegetables the choice of vegetables is limited, however the benefit is they're quick to prepare (you can microwave or steam them) and can be convenient when you don't have any fresh vegetables in the fridge. From a nutritional perspective they are great for you because they’re picked at their peak and when they are frozen, they snap freeze them which preserve all the vitamins and minerals.
The conclusion: Studies have shown that there is not a big difference between the nutritional value of fresh and frozen vegetables. My advice would be buy both. Have fresh vegetables in the fridge to use when you can and use the frozen ones for those hectic nights (they’re a lot better for you than buying junk food - and quicker to prepare!)
Question Corner
Yup you guessed it, this section is for any other questions you may have. Whether it’s about exercises, articles you’ve read and want more information on, or the lunchtime debate over what’s best for you... here is the place to have it answered. This section will cover off anything health, fitness or wellness related. So please email me questions you have and let's find out the REAL truth!
Q: I find it really hard to keep my motivation and accountability up. Can you make any suggestions?
Absolutely.. you know me, I'm always full of suggestions ;-) There are a million different options to keep you accountable. You need to make the commitment to yourself and get started. Here are a couple of suggestions for you to get fired up:
- Try Group Training. You get to work out with likeminded people and be motivated and pushed to do things you may not try on your own.
- Go to a gym and do a Group Exercise Class (most of the time you don't have to be a member and you can pay casually). You will be motivated by the music and the instructor and its no were near as boring as slogging it out on a treadmill for an hour. (I teach Body Pump and Cycle at RMIT Bundoora & Revolution Fitness in Preston. I may be able to get you a Free pass if you are interested).
- Join a team sport (netball, hockey, soccer - anything!) When you become a team member you're less likely to make up excuses like ‘you can’t be bothered’ because you'll be letting others in the team down.
- Exercise with a buddy. Rather than catching up for coffee and cake, why not go for a long walk instead. You still get to catch up on all the gossip and you’re getting fit and healthy at the same time!
- Take dancing lessons. Why not? If it's something you've been thinking about for a while, don't put it off any longer. Sign up and try it out!
- Get a Personal Trainer. They will work you hard, show you what you’re really capable of and keep you accountable. If you can't afford a personal trainer but still want a Personal Trainers expertise have a look at: www.wecanloseamillion.com. It’s got recipes, workouts with photo’s, articles and stretching exercises to help you achieve your goals!
The list is simply endless guys, so I encourage you to get out there and "MAKE IT HAPPEN"!
